History
The Tourism Study Program was officially established on July 29, 2008, based on Operational Decree No. 231/J14/KP/2009 issued on May 8, 2009. Initially known as the Bachelor’s Program in Tourism Destination, it aimed to equip students with the skills to contribute to the development and advancement of the tourism destination sector in Indonesia. In response to the dynamic nature of the tourism industry and market demand for more competitive human resources, a nomenclature change was implemented on June 11, 2020, as stipulated in Decree No. 574/M/2020. This change renamed the program to the Bachelor of Tourism Program, reflecting a broader scope of knowledge encompassing all aspects of tourism, not limited to destinations.
The program confers a Bachelor of Tourism (S.Par) degree, with a standard study period of 8 semesters or 4 years. Its curriculum is comprehensively designed to produce graduates capable of taking on roles as academics, bureaucrats, researchers, and leaders in various areas of the tourism business sector. The program has achieved an A accreditation, highlighting its nationally recognized quality of education. Graduates of this program enjoy diverse career opportunities in education, government, and the tourism industry. They can work as lecturers, civil servants, researchers, destination planners, policymakers, consultants, or leaders in various tourism businesses, including tourist attractions, travel agencies, hotels, and restaurants.
